Records Unit

The Records Unit maintains the physical security of records, enters report information electronically, and provides data to the FBI, courts, insurance companies, and the public. The unit consists of five full-time and one part-time employee.

Request a Report

You can request a copy of an incident or crash report online by clicking the green button below. Crash reports are available for single-car accidents, rear-end collisions, side-impact collisions, head-on collisions, vehicle rollovers, pedestrian-involved collisions, or private property collisions. Incident reports are available for theft, vandalism, lost property, identity theft, and vehicle theft or tampering.

Disclaimer: Reports that are requested online charge a convenience fee of $9.00 plus the applicable report fee. 

Criminal Record Checks

If you are looking to obtain a copy of a criminal record, you can do so by accessing the Missouri State Highway Patrol's website. The cost is $15 per record check through the Missouri State Highway Patrol's website.

Sunshine Law Request

The city of St. Joseph is dedicated to government transparency and compliance with Missouri’s Sunshine Law and the city’s Open Meetings and Open Records Ordinances.

Citizens may utilize the Sunshine Law Request Form to submit a request for open records. Simply enter your contact information and specify the documents or information you are requesting. The fees for researching documents that are responsive to a request are listed on the fees notice (PDF).
