[ARCHIVED] Cold Weather Safety

Cold Weather Safety

As the temperatures drop, it's important to stay safe. Here are some tips to keep in mind as the cold temperatures stay in our area for a while.

  • Take precautions if you do have to head outdoors. Dress in multiple layers including a hat, gloves, water-resistant boots, coat and face covering.
  • Pets need to be brought indoors.
  • Check on your neighbors, friends and family to make sure they are okay.
  • Drip your faucets to prevent pipes from freezing.
  • Make sure your car kit is stocked and fill up your tank in case you become stranded.
  • If you do need to head out on the road, give yourself plenty of time, drive slowly and stay alert.
  • Adjust your schedule so you are not outside during the coldest part of the day.
  • Sign up for NIXLE alerts to stay informed.
