which allows no deviations. The following program will explain the
Policy and how it affects you as a Citizen.

Snow Removal Program
The snow removal
program in St Joseph was designed to serve all of it’s Citizens as
a whole, as well as the Traveling Public, who are just passing through
St Joseph. The Program is set up with a system of routes which aids
in traffic control and eventually serves every street in St Joseph.
De-icing Routes are used
during snow storms with less than 2 inches of snow and for ice storms.
It takes approximately 12 to 14 hours to de-ice all streets in St
Joseph. This timing depends on the duration of the storm. In other
words a storm that dwindles for 14 hours may require a second application
of salt on Emergency Routes. This will delay all other routes.

- Emergency Salt
Routes
Emergency Salt Routes are designed to get traffic through St Joseph, to all parts of the City. They are Generally Arterial and Collector streets, which link up with Primary and Secondary State Highways. - Secondary Salt
Routes
Secondary salt routes are those streets which link up with Emergency Routes and take Traffic into Neighborhoods, throughout the City. Secondary Routes also pick up School bus routes, get around schools, and Nursing homes. - Secondary Follow-Up
Routes
Secondary Follow-up Routes are those streets which contain hills and other hazards not picked up on Emergency and Secondary Routes. Hazards include high accident intersections, and curves. They also pick up Nursing homes not picked up on Emergency and Secondary Routes. - District Routes
District Routes are those streets not picked up on the Emergency, Secondary, or Follow-up route systems. They get into residential streets in all parts of the City.
