PUBLIC NOTICE - Planning and Community Development (03/16/10) - The City of St. Josephs Planning and Community Development Department needs your help in identifying housing and non-housing community development needs that you believe should be included in the next 5-year Community Partnership Strategy and Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan discusses how Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investments Partnership funds, and other competitive grants that may be available from the Department of Housing and Urban Development could be used to help meet the needs of low-to moderate-income families and others in our community without adequate housing and services.
Citizens will have two opportunities to meet with Planning and Community Development staff and a committee of citizens appointed by the St. Joseph City Council to identify revitalization actions that should be addressed during the next five years. The Community Partnership Strategy and Consolidated Plan will establish the course of action for community revitalization through the year 2015. When The Plan is adopted in late April, 2010, it will include specific goals related to housing, economic, social, and civic needs of our communitys low- and moderate-income residents and the areas in which they live.
Planning meetings will be held as follows:
- March 4, 2010, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- March 16, 2010, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
All Planning meetings will be convened at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, Third Floor, City Hall, 1100 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, MO 64501.
Residents and interested parties may also submit written thoughts and ideas to the Planning and Community Development Department, Room 101-A, City Hall, 1100 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, MO 64501 or by emailing
sjohnson@ci.st-joseph.mo.us.
The City of St Joseph will begin addressing the identified needs with its fiscal year 2010/2011 allocation of federal funds from the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership Programs. These federal programs are funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HUD has not announced the amount of St. Josephs allocation for FY 2010/2011; last year it included $1,729,815 of CDBG funds and $488,131 of HOME program funds.
