In 2000, the Animal Control & Rescue Shelter began working with a group of volunteers called Friends of the Shelter. The primary goal of the group is to reduce the number of animals euthanized by increasing public awareness of the many wonderful animals the shelter receives. The group is now conducting adoption clinics from noon to 4:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
In addition to the adoption clinics, the group also conducts outreach programs and fundraisers. Some of the volunteers spend their time bathing and grooming the dogs, others spend their time walking and socializing them. There are a wide variety of tasks to be performed.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call 271-5363 for additional information.
