The St. Joseph Fire Department Training Division office is located at Fire Headquarters, 401 S. 7th. The Division is staffed by Mike Neylon, Chief Training Officer and Bill Lamar as Training Officer.
The Training Division provides training in all aspects of emergency services including fire suppression and tactics, hazard material operations, confined space rescue, water/ice rescue and Emergency Medical Services education and credentialing.
The Fire Department has been working to refresh all fire suppression personnel in various fireground tactics and skills, with the emphasis on house fires, automobile extrication, and confined space rescue.
The St. Joseph Fire Department and Hillyard Technical School work together on educating recruits for a career in fire fighting. For information on the Fire Academy, please contact Hillyards at 816-671-4170.
