In The Spotlight
139th Airlift Wing

On August 2, voters will consider a ballot issue that will repair and improve the Missouri River levee system. The Missouri River has a history of major flooding, most notably in 1952 and 1993, along with the dangerously high, sustained levels in 2011. The devastation from these events resulted in loss of jobs and millions of dollars spent to repair the damage and protect billions of dollars in public and private assets, including the Missouri Air National Guard 139thAirlift Wing. We have the opportunity to have the levees repaired and improved with 65% of the $71 million project paid for by the federal government if the local match is funded. Before you vote, please know the facts about the issue.
